photo of the library classroomLibrary instruction is an excellent way to acquaint your students with the various types of print and electronic research tools found in the library, as well as help them gain valuable information literacy skills for evaluating online resources. Our librarians can provide an instructional session for classes that can include a discussion of research strategies, an introduction to library resources and research tools, and demonstrations of the online catalog and selected research databases. The instruction session will be specifically tailored to the course, assignment details, and possible topics. We ask that faculty are present at all library instruction sessions to help answer assignment-specific questions and to help keep the students focused.

Our embedded librarian service involves placing a librarian (with links to databases, tutorials, and other course- and assignment-specific resources) in your Canvas course to assist your students at their point of need. We work with face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses and are willing to explore and create the best fit for your course.

Please submit requests at least 1 week prior to preferred instruction date in order to give us time to design the best possible session for your course/assignment.

Please contact Mark Shores at shoresml@miamioh.edu if you have questions or would like to schedule a session. You can also fill out an electronic request below.
